Vertical Speed

Vertical speed is the rate of change of altitude in feet per minute. It is a measure of the aircraft's climb or descent rate. A positive vertical speed indicates that the aircraft is climbing, while a negative vertical speed indicates that the aircraft is descending. Vertical speed is an important parameter for pilots to monitor during takeoff, climb, descent, and landing. It is also used by air traffic controllers to ensure safe separation between aircraft. In modern aircraft, vertical speed is typically measured by a barometric altimeter or an air data computer.
