Trade Association
In the context of aviation, a Trade Association is an organization founded and funded by businesses that operate in a specific industry. These associations participate in public relations activities such as advertising, education, political donations, lobbying and publishing, but their main focus is collaboration between companies, or standardization. In aviation, trade associations often involve airlines, aircraft manufacturers, and other stakeholders in the aviation industry. They aim to promote the interests of their members, provide a platform for consensus and cooperation, and represent the industry in dialogue with governmental and regulatory authorities. They may also set industry standards, conduct research, and provide a forum for addressing issues of common concern. Examples of trade associations in aviation include the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), and the General aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA). These organizations play a crucial role in shaping policy, promoting safety and efficiency, and fostering growth and innovation in the aviation industry.
