Tracks

In the context of aviation, 'Tracks' refer to the predefined routes that aircraft follow across the oceanic areas of the globe. These tracks are not fixed and are subject to daily change, primarily due to the shifting of the jet streams to maximize efficiency and fuel economy. The most well-known of these are the North Atlantic Tracks (NATs), which are the flight routes between North America and Europe. The tracks are designed and organized by air traffic control organizations, such as the FAA in the United States and Eurocontrol in Europe. They are published twice daily and are used by pilots and air traffic controllers to plan and monitor transoceanic flights. The tracks are typically busiest during the night due to the high volume of flights crossing the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The use of tracks helps to maintain order and safety in the busy and uncontrolled oceanic airspace, where direct radar contact is not possible.
