External Force

In the context of aviation, an external force refers to any force that acts on an aircraft from outside its system. These forces are crucial in determining the motion and behavior of the aircraft during flight. The four primary external forces that act on an aircraft include lift, weight, thrust, and drag. Lift is the upward force that opposes the force of gravity and is generated by the movement of the aircraft through the air. Weight is the force exerted by the gravity on the aircraft, acting downward from its center of gravity. Thrust is the forward force produced by the aircraft's engines, propelling it through the air. Drag is the resistance force that opposes the forward motion of the aircraft. The balance or imbalance of these forces directly affects the flight performance, stability, and control of the aircraft. Understanding these forces is fundamental to the principles of flight and aircraft design.
