Defect

In aviation, a defect refers to any abnormality or malfunction in an aircraft or its components that affects its airworthiness or safe operation. Defects can be caused by a variety of factors such as wear and tear, manufacturing defects, or damage sustained during operation. Defects can range from minor issues such as a broken light bulb to major problems such as engine failure. It is the responsibility of the pilot or maintenance personnel to identify and report any defects before the aircraft is flown. Defects are recorded in the aircraft's maintenance logbook and must be repaired or replaced before the aircraft can be deemed airworthy again.
