Approaches
In aviation, an approach is the flight path of an aircraft that is established by the pilot on final approach to a runway. It begins from the initial approach fix and ends at the decision altitude/height or at the missed approach point. Approaches can be conducted using instrument flight rules (IFR) or visual flight rules (VFR). IFR approaches are conducted using navigation aids and instruments in the cockpit, while VFR approaches are conducted visually by the pilot. There are various types of approaches, including precision approaches (ILS, MLS, GLS) and non-precision approaches (VOR, NDB, RNAV). The type of approach used depends on the equipment available on the aircraft and the airport.
